Our last day in the capital, we were not up as bright and early as Saturday as we had a long and full day previously. We decided to take the tube to Camden Market, now I had not been here since my days in the Fire service some 12 years ago, so much has changed, the market has grown greatly, and just like Portobello road there was an amazing selection of all sorts of shops and stalls, and not to be missed is the food stall area where you can sample all types of cuisine from all over the world, there was even a Zulu restaurant which if we had time I would have loved to try. So Camden Market is another must see if you are visiting London. So after spending a good few hours at the market it was nearly time to head for home, but we decided on one last stop as like me having never been to Portobello Road market our friend had never been to St Katherine’s Dock near Tower Bridge, so it was back on the tube for our last stop. Now I have been to St Katherine’s Dock many times and have seen it grow and grow over a period of about 35 years, in fact I had the pleasure of sailing a 45 foot yacht called Arwen to berth in the dock when I sailed with the Cirdan Trust. Now in my opinion it has grown to be a great tourist attraction, and another must see if you are visiting the capital. Then it was into the Dickens Inn for one last drink before the journey home.
So another great weekend away was had by all, with a great many laughs along the way. Watch out for our next trip, which will probably be to the Isle Of Arran in Scotland so watch this space. Or why not subscribe to my blog
